Saying Goodbye to Gearloose
Tuesday April 30, 2024
 It is a sad day as local racers mourn the loss of another friend. Jerry Palfenier, or "Gearloose" as most everyone knew him, was the last of the Pacific Northwest's original slot car god fathers.
Gearloose was involved in most every aspect of 1/24 slot car racing and car building in the Northwest over the last 60 years! He along with Bob McFarland and Lee Dundas are credited with the establishment, popularity, and longevity of 1/24 slot car racing in Oregon.
Gearloose was actively racing right up to the end, winning his last race less than one month before his passing. He will be greatly missed!

Dennis Hart Passes Away

 Sadly, I must report the passing of Dennis Hart.
Dennis passed away on Feb. 22, 2024. He was a long time NASTE racer that not only brought us a great racing venue, but also introduced us to the Portland Adult Soap Box Derby.
We will miss Dennis and all the adventures he took us on!

Columbia Gorge Championship - Round 3

The third round of the Columbia Gorge Championship for 2024 was held at Inslot's Checkered Flag in Vancouver on March 23rd.
Thirteen racers participated in this premier Northwest True Scale event.

OSCAR NASCAR Race at Springwater Raceway

Springwater Raceway was host to the March OSCAR NASCAR Race. 19 racers were in attendance for this exciting race, the most we have seen in sometime.

IROC Return Planned

The time has come to restart the NASTE IROC program. IROC racing pits drivers against each other using the same cars so the difference is a combination of luck and the drivers ability. 2024 Is Off And Running!

The first race of 2024 was held at Inslot's Checkered Flag Raceway on January 4th. The Even Thursday race had 10 racers in attendance with two classes being raced - Flexi's and PASER NASCAR.

Welcome to NASTE
|
 NASTE provides slot car hobbyist’s with opportunities to further their interest in slot cars through social gathers as well as structured race programs. NASTE also connects with other clubs which provides even more options for racing.
NASTE was established in 1996 by a small group of slot car racing enthusiasts in the Portland, Oregon area that wanted something different. At first we raced on a short, 3 lane routed 1/24 scale track. The racing was intense! Click here to view the original site. Soon we expanded adding more tracks to the racing schedule.
Our goal is to make our racing inexpensive, with the main focus being on having FUN! Besides, we have learned that low tech can be very competitive!
